What is coaching?

Coaching is a service that allows people to clarify their goals and to then achieve them.

Coaching is different from consulting as it’s main belief is that clients are the biggest experts of their lives and that if anybody gives them advice, it is somebody else’s, not theirs. So coaching does not give advice for the most part; instead it allows people to find out what it is they actually want in life and at work, and it then helps them create a plan to achieve what they want. Coaching even holds people accountable for their desires, so they actually do achieve these goals. Coaching is also different from therapy as it is very action-oriented; it doesn’t matter where you came from or what you have done before, the new day brings new potential and possibilities for you. Coaching is more than just achieving goals, though. It’s more about taking our clients from where they are and bringing them up to a much higher level of understanding and awareness of who they are and where they are going.

So when was the last time you really took stock of your life?

When did you ask yourself, "What is my true potential and what has kept me from fulfilling it?" Or, "what else do I want to achieve in practice before I retire?" Or, “Given the choice, would I do things differently in my career?” And when was the last time someone stood with you at the threshold of new discovery in your life and told you, "Let's go?”

These are the kind of questions coaching deals with. You see, coaching is a journey to find your own answers; the answers you didn't even know existed in you. By finding your own answers, much more likely will you commit to making things happen in your practice and professional life than if someone told you, do this and that and you will get better results.

Coaching, as you can see, is not so much about telling you how to have greater success. It is rather about helping you find out what you see as success and to then take you there. And coaching is also about clarifying your values and to then get you into the action of fulfilling them
.

Coaching is conducted on the telephone so you can work on your goals from the comfort of your home or practice. The coaching sessions are typically 30-minute long and are usually on a weekly basis. At the beginning of the coaching process we typically deal with what you perceive as “problems”. However we gradually move from solving problems to taking you from where you are to where you would like to be. We create a plan to your success together and we then put forth a system to make sure you will indeed achieve your desired success, any success. Yes, I believe you CAN achieve any success you desire. That’s how huge your potential is! In between sessions you will be given assignments, from the stuff that comes up during the coaching sessions, so the actual coaching process continues even when we are not on the phone together.

We offer 3 different levels of coaching:
1. Members: Three monthly sessions, 30 minutes each, and a maximum of 6 Emails a month+ review and discussion of coaching assignments. This level is suitable for most professionals who want to take the time to grow and change at a gradual pace.
2. Members Plus: Four monthly sessions, 30 minutes each, unlimited Emails, review and discussion of coaching assignments and 50% discount on group coaching. This level is suitable for those professionals who are either in a crisis or who want a more accelerated pace of reaching their goals.
3. Executive: Four monthly sessions, 50 minutes each, unlimited Emails, review and discussion of coaching assignments, 50% discount on group coaching and free subscription to the bi-weekly insiders newsletter on how to create your dream practice (or career). This level is most appropriate for practice owners who like to think big and who are not afraid to say that there is a lot of success to be found in veterinary medicine.

So if you are truly serious about your success, be ready to do the work.

In order to get you in the mood for coaching, why don't you think about these quesitons?
1. What is it that has prevented you so far from really doing only what you want?
2.  What do you believe you can do with your career if you truly put your mind to it?
3. What are the 3 things you would like to see happening to you in the next 6 months that will make the biggest difference in your life or career?
As you can see, this is what coaching is about; cutting through the chase, getting to the bottom of what has held you back and figuring out what you want and then getting it to you.

There is more to coaching than individual sessions:

In addition to individual coaching, we also offer group coaching. Group coaching is different in that rather than have you bring up the areas you want to work on, we bring up different issues on each call and have everybody on the group call work on it individually and as a group. As you can see, even group coaching is done on the phone, so geography is not an issue. The topics we bring to the group coaching are carefully selected and prepared from our interactions with our individual coaching clients and from our experience as veterinary clinicians. On group calls, we therefore trust that you will work on your own plan to work through the issues at hand having given you the tools to do so. Some of the exciting group call topics are:

How to improve staff communication and production
How to improve client compliance
How to improve net profits in veterinary medicine
How to become proactive in practice
How to retire in comfort
How to plan for success

Each group call is comprised of between 20-50 veterinary professionals and we typically meet every other week. As part of these meetings you will be working on your individual plan, yet we will review your plan individually and help you work out the kinks should you choose so.

So what do we want you to get from all this? GREAT RESULTS, whatever they are!
